My friend was a Gulf War veteran who was disabled during the war. He is now confined to a wheelchair. A few years ago his wife died and he had not met any new women since then. I recently talked to him on the phone and advised that he start seeing someone. After all, he was not getting any younger. However, he felt that because he was confined to his wheelchair, it would be hard for him to find a girl that would want to be with him. So I told him that there were disabled dating sites where he could meet women. He gave it some thought and decided that it may not be a bad idea to give it a try.
So I helped him to create an account on one of the popular dating website for disabled people called DateDisabled. Pretty soon his profile was up and running. He started browsing for other women that were in wheelchairs too. He wanted to find someone that could share the same experience as he did. On this dating site, there are 5 million members so I figured my friend should have a fairly easy time finding someone. There were a lot of search criteria that he could use to zone in on the type of person that he wants. The site also claims that 92% of their couples are still together after five years so that is a comforting thought for him I would imagine.
So after giving the site a try, my friend was able to get matched up with someone. They really hit if off well. They talk a lot on the phone and also through emails. They plan on meeting pretty soon. I am really happy that my friend has finally met someone that he can spend time with.
