Frigidaire FAD704DUD 70 Pt. Dehumidifier

I needed a dehumidifier for my basement because it gets really damp down there during the summertime. I did not want mold to start growing there. I looked at many different dehumidifiers and finally found the Frigidaire FAD704DUD 70 Pt. Dehumidifier. This unit had many positive reviews so I decided it would be the right one for me.

I bought the unit from Amazon and after receiving it, I immediately set it up in my basement. It worked very well. In fact, it worked so well that I have had to empty the 70 pint water tank several times. This eventually got pretty annoying to do so instead emptying the water tank every time, I attached a hose to the back of the unit. I used a regular garden hose and emptied the hose at the drain. At first, the unit was not draining at all. So I bought a right angle PVC adapter and fitted the hose to it. After doing that, the water began to drain from the tank. A good thing about this unit is that it automatically turns on and off to reach the desired humidity. One thing that I do not like about this unit is that it gives off a substantial amount of heat but I guess that is to be expected for these types of devices. I would rather have a slightly warmer basement than a humid basement. Here is a video on how to use the Frigidaire dehumidifier.

Overall this is a good dehumidifier. It pulls a lot of water out of the air. The only problem is the continuous draining. You should definitely go get a right angle PVC adapter. Otherwise, you could use a temporary solution by tipping the front unit up by propping it on some blocks of wood. By tipping it, the water will drain continuously and not fill up the tank.
